Moss, a black and white springer has come to live at Weatherham. We’ve never owned a spaniel before so it’s a very pleasant surprise to find such a loving, responsive breed after several decades of owning stubborn, strong-willed and basically downright naughty terrier-type breeds. Ned, the Lancashire Heeler, has finally come round to the idea that life isn’t so bad with Moss around after all – it did take six weeks (as I said, they are obstinate beasts) and they have plenty of fun with the run of the fields. Here’s Moss meeting Titch, last year’s bottle-fed triplet lamb. He did get a bit afraid when she thought he was a new playmate and started leaping in the air and jumping at him!
